Does the Community Network costs anything to join?
No, membership is free, and you get a huge number of benefits if you sign up. To sign up for free, click here.
Who is able to join the Community Network?
Membership of the Community Network is broad, although it is a support network designed principally for friends of groups and other community groups who work with parks and green spaces. As long as your group meets this criteria and your organisation does not make a profit, you can join (the Community Network is not open to commercial organisations). You can also join the Community Network if you work with or support these community groups.
What type of support can the Community Network provide?
The Community Network provides support in the form of the GreenSpace Online website, a free e-newsletter, Community Green Place, publications, and workshops, phone advice and more.
Does the Community Network provide funding to community groups?
No, unfortunately we do not have funding to give out ourselves, although we can provide comprehensive advice on where to apply for money and how to make applications.
Can the Community Network lobby local authorities, developers or government?
GreenSpace and the Community Network are politically independent. While we will always advise community groups, we do not have the capacity to get involved with individual conflicts and cases. We do however seek to raise the profile of parks and green spaces, as well as promoting community involvement, in all areas of policy.
What will happen to my contact details if I join the Community Network?
We will hold your contact details until such a time when you ask us to remove or update them. We will not give out your contact details to any third parties.
Which other organisations does the Community Network work with?
To make the Community Network more effective, we work with as many like-minded organisations as possible. Currently, we work with BTCV, the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, Groundwork, Cabe Space, HLF and the DCLG.
How do I get in touch with the Community Network?
The Community Network team can be contacted at their Reading offices at any time by phoning 0118 946 9060 or by emailing community@green-space.org.uk and they will always do their best to help with your enquiry.
