This conference focused on how community groups and local authorities can work together to successfully manage parks and green spaces. Topics covered included how to engage communities through art, how to give communities more control over their parks, and an exploration of the new GreenSpace fund.

Reaching Out

This conference focused on managing parks for greater engagement with black and minority ethnic groups. Delegates heard speakers discuss broad topics such as how to develop effective relationships, ethnic diversity in allotment gardening, and how to effectively use sport, staff and volunteers.

This conference focused on maximising the impact parks can have on health and wellbeing. The 2012 Olympic Park was part of the agenda, which also included advice on how to gain funding from the NHS, and an example of how parks actively aim to sustainably increase levels of physical activity in Bristol.

This unique one-day conference featured a range of presentations, workshops and site visits, which will focus on the relevant issues, including the vital role of Friends groups, how to involve hard-to-reach groups such as young people and minority ethnic communities, and an inspiring case study of how residents living near a crime-ridden park worked together to turn the park into a treasured place for the people.

The Natural Health Service

Making it Safe

The fully booked event looked at the issues surrounding personal safety and strategies for overcoming antisocial behaviour in parks and public spaces. Over 160 delegates heard from a range of speakers on a variety of issues including community policing, designing out crime in parks, keeping children safe, dealing with sex and drug-related antisocial behaviour and the essential role of the police in making parks safe.
