Context

The introduction of the new coalition Government has caused local authorities to find themselves under intense pressure. The dramatic budget cuts that have been enforced, along with the promotion of localism and the 'Big Society,' has caused a complete re-think of the way park services are delivered.

Nonetheless, park managers can make sure their green space services rise to the challenge. Local authorities can effectively and positively involve the local community in service delivery, implement successful strategic commissioning and seek funding. These can all be achieved by adapting, responding and utilising.
