Key interests
The work of the London Parks and Green Spaces Forum covers a wide range of open space, including parks, commons, allotments, woodlands, playing fields and recreation grounds, play space, nature reserves and other wildlife habitat.
The forum is concerned with both public spaces and spaces to which there is no or limited public access.
The focus of the Forum is on London’s urban parks and open spaces, and the areas of open land beyond the urban environment, which form the London Green Belt.
The Forum brings together four key groups of interest with responsibility for the regeneration and sustainable future of London’s parks and green spaces:
Planning and design - Ensuring that Londoners have access to a park or green space within walking distance of their homes through strategy development and implementation.
Management - Sustainable delivery and maintenance of parks and green spaces. Responsible for operational management, including security, events, training and education.
Biodiversity - To promote biodiversity within parks and green spaces, and to ensure that Londoners have contact with nature.
Users - To engage with community groups and other user groups on issues of improving access (including sustainable transport and access for disabled people), social inclusion, community involvement, tourism promotion, and meeting the aspirations of users.
