| Over 500 flock to Norfolk
Heritage Park for Friends’ Fair
Saturday 30 July saw over 500 people
join the Friends of Norfolk Heritage Park as they celebrated
their 10th anniversary at a free event in Sheffield’s
historic, award winning park.
Take a look at the event photos...
Dark clouds didn’t deter the revellers who turned up
in droves to enjoy the range of activities, displays, food
and music.
The bouncy castle and sports activity van were hits with
the kids, who played cricket, football and other sports, while
the adventurous tried their hand at the climbing wall. Others
had a go at more traditional sports including caber tossing,
cowpat throwing and welly wanging, while the highland cattle,
lambs, goats and rabbits gave visitors a taste of the countryside.
While the kids were kept amused, adults could relax with
a massage or manicure, or get their hair braided.
A fantastic display depicted the history of the park, including
the time Queen Victoria visited and 50,000 children sang to
her.
Erica Fidment, Secretary of the Friends of Norfolk Heritage
Park, said: “It’s been a great day. The event
attracted many of the local community who joined in the fun
of the Friends fair. The unpromising weather forecast did
not dampen the event. It was lovely to see so many people
here having fun and enjoying everything that this fantastic
park has to offer”.
The Friend’s Fair inspired people to discover more
about the history of Norfolk Heritage Park and celebrate its
recent achievement of receiving a Green Flag award.
