Our story so far
Discussions regarding the GreenSpace South East initially took place between its founding partners, Bracknell Forest Borough Council’s Helen Tranter (Head of Culture & Visual Environment) and GreenSpace.
A meeting was held with 40 local authorities in the region in Bracknell in March 2006, along with representation from the Countryside Agency. This meeting agreed to establish a Steering Group to take forward the business development of the Forum. A core group of supporters emerged, and they hope to respond to the growing national and regional agenda for parks by redirecting its focus onto strategic issues and expanding to the South East region as a whole. A steering group was elected and formed from those members that offered to represent their sub-regional areas, along with the Chair, Helen Tranter from Bracknell Forest Borough Council. There are five sub-regional groups in the South East, each holding regular meetings and represented on the Steering Group.
Open Meetings are held once a year, and these offer networking and learning opportunities, including presentations and question and answer sessions. Steering group meetings take place on a quarterly basis.
