Our story so far

An initial meeting was held in December 2004, but due to a lack of support development of the Forum was put on hold. Following the success of GreenSpace’s regional forums elsewhere, it was agreed to set up another meeting as new offers of support had been made to GreenSpace to develop a forum in the region. A further meeting was held in December 2006. This meeting agreed to establish a Steering Group to take forward the business development of the Forum. A core group of supporters emerged, and they hope to respond to the growing national and regional agenda for parks by redirecting its focus onto strategic issues and expanding to the Yorkshire & the Humber region as a whole.

Open Meetings are held once a year, and these offer networking and learning opportunities, including presentations and question and answer sessions. Steering group meetings take place on a quarterly basis.

Geographical Area

The Forum defines the geographical borders of its operation as Yorkshire & the Humber covering the sub regions and county areas of North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire & Humberside.

If you are not in the Yorkshire & the Humber region, there may be a forum in your area. To find out about other regional forums go to the GreenSpace website regional forums page.
